Katharine Pooley’s Sumptuous and Inspiring Interiors – Katharine Pooley creates sumptuous, inspiring interiors for the most discerning clients. Her refined yet eclectic aesthetic has earned her a position as one of the most sought-after interior designers in London and commissions for landmark commercial and residential projects around the world.
Katharine is a highly organised designer who fervently believes in ‘design without compromise’ for her top-end clients. Whether private or commercial, Katharine Pooley’s work is faultlessly chic and ultra luxurious, teamed with state-of-the-art technology. She is committed to British craftsmanship: beautifully made and innovative furniture or finishes, designed with a contemporary eye, often feature.
Born in the United Kingdom, Katharine Pooley was educated at St Mary´s School and INSA University in Lyon, France. With a vast experience in Hong Kong, working in Morgan Stanley and Barclays Bank, Katherine Pooley also lived in Vietnam, Singapore, Bahrain, returning to London 2 decades later. Katharine is married to Dan Voyce. They have two children, Charlie and Jack.
An innate sense of adventure has defined Katharine’s life and shaped her design philosophy. Katharine is an intrepid traveller and has visited more than 150 countries. However, what may come as surprising is the fact she has summited many of the world’s highest mountains, driven a team of dogs on a sled to the North Pole and crossed the Sahara on horseback, so one begins to form a picture of a truly original and adventurous interior designer.
Having left the realms of banking in the Far East after 20 years to follow her true passion of interior design, it’s clear that Katharine’s talent is absolutely inherent to her personality – she believes that the flow of a space comes above all else and that no area of a room should be left untouched. This incredible ability means that her creations can only be described as well-composed symphonies of colours, materials and forms, absolutely striking as well as classic in look.
As a woman whose day job involves being surrounded by the world’s most luxurious interiors, it’s entirely understandable that Katharine’s style is wonderfully multifaceted – “I divide my time between London and Scotland and the style of each differs due to their surroundings, the physical properties themselves and how my family and I spend our time in them.”
After establishing her design office and eponymous boutique in Knightsbridge and a prestigious concession in Harrods, Katharine has worked tirelessly to be at the top of her profession. Recent London assignments include properties in many of London’s most prestigious addresses, the interiors for the Royal and VIP Lounges at Heathrow’s Terminal 5, a large apartment in the heart of Singapore, a chalet in Verbier and palaces in Kuwait and Qatar. She has won two esteemed Decorex awards and is consistently featured in the Andrew Martin Top 100 international interior designers.
